CBSE Board Exams 2021: Recent updates regarding cancellation, postponement of Class 12 examson May 19, 2021 he Central Board of Secondary Education is currently being flooded by requests from students and parents to cancel the upcoming CBSE Class 12 board exams 2021 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic, but no official announcement regarding the same has been made yet. Students and parents have started a campaign on social media using #modiji_cancel12thboards and #canceboardexams2021 on their posts, urging the government and CBSE to do away with the conduction of board exams this academic session.
Even after several requests by students, parents, and teachers, CBSE has not issued any clarification regarding the cancellation of the Class 12 board exams. Several parents have also filed a plea in the Supreme Court, asking them to take action against the conduction of exams.
No decision taken yet: CBSE
In a recent statement, CBSE addressed the issue regarding the cancellation of the exams. The board has said that no decision in this regard has been taken yet, despite several rumours being circulated on social media regarding the cancellation of the exams.CBSE said in its statement, “It is clarified that no such decision has been taken regarding CBSE Class 12 examinations as being speculated in certain sections of the media. Any decision taken in this matter will be officially communicated to the public.”
Offline exams not feasible: Parents’ Association
In an effort to cancel the upcoming Class 12 board exams, the India Wide Parents Association has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene and take an appropriate decision regarding the CBSE exams. The Parents Association has said that due to the sudden rise in Covid-19 cases across the country, the conduction of the Class 12 exams in physical mode will not be feasible, and it will put students at the risk of contracting the virus and spreading it further. The association wrote, “Conducting an offline exam is not possible now for at least few months due to the current situation in India so govt must step in and find an alternative for an offline exam, and delaying exams will further cause anxiety, mental stress, and depression among students.” In a virtual meeting conducted yesterday, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal asked states to send in suggestions regarding the conduction of the Class 12 board exams.
